San Diego Chapter Bannering to Say No to Miramar Air Show

August 09, 2018

The San Diego Veterans For Peace, the local chapter of a growing international veterans educational organization, begin their third season of asking the public to stay home from the upcoming September Miramar Air Show and instead to do something wholesome and worthwhile with their kids.

Chapter members and friends will be out of the Carroll Canyon I-15 overpass with banners and flags each week (see below) up to the date of the air show encouraging the public to stay home from this unwholesome, unnecessary, dangerous, and costly event.

When:

For the third consecutive year, local veterans will be on the I-15 Carroll Canyon overpass at the following dates and times:

Monday, August 6th 5:30 PM to 7 PM (with memorial to a fallen vet to follow)
Friday, August 10th 4 PM to 6 PM
Friday, August 17th 4 PM to 6 PM
Thursday, August 30th 4 PM to 6 PM
Thursday, Sept 6th 4 PM to 6 PM
Thursday, Sept 13th 4 PM to 6 PM
Thursday, Sept 27th 4 PM to 6 PM

Who:

Local veterans of all five military services including those who fought in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. Veterans For Peace is a 501-C-3 veterans educational organization recognized at the United Nations.

Why:

The Miramar Air Show glorifies war with an exciting show of speed, power and noise. It celebrates the skills and machinery that exist to kill, maim and destroy. The show is very dangerous .... 10% of all Blue Angel pilots have been killed in shows or accidents. Miramar jets have already crashed in San Diego neighborhoods. Lastly, the show is a misleading recruiting tool for our youth and exists to allow defense contractors to showcase and sell their latest tools of death.

We invite the press and public to join us on the I-15 Carroll Canyon overpass at the dates and times listed above.
