SDVFP in action today and was also joined by members of Unified US Deported Veterans/Veterans for Peace at the San Diego VA Medical Center. They stood in solidarity with the San Diego VA nurses in their rally outing poor morale, under staffing and bullying of nurses by the administration.
Jim Brown from Chap 91 writes there were close to 150 people there with 8 members of SDVFP in attendance waving flags, holding banners and giving speeches. Sean gave a rousing speech that ended with "Nurses and Veterans Together."...and a fist pump!
Fox SD, KPBS and Univision covered the rally. The Nurses Union and Veterans For Peace were joined by the AFGE (Govt employees Union) and an Interfaith Organization who was also at Nogales with us the last two year. Deported Veterans had a group in attendance with placards and banners. Jan Ruhman and George Johnson led the group. I was impressed with the tv coverage and how well they covered the nurses concerns. The nurses did a wonderful job organizing the event and presenting their concerns.
Robert Vivar from Unified US Deported Veterans/ Veterans for Peace, writes "Proper medical care for our Veterans....SAY NO TO PRIVATIZATION OF THE VA!"
