In the 1960’s Dr. King walked through the cities and asked gangs to stop using violence. In his April 4th 1967 speech “Beyond Vietnam” he expressed the result of his conversations. He said, “They asked if our own nation wasn’t using massive doses of violence to solve its problems”. Dr. King realized that youth are lead by example. He said that, “the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today—my own government” and “A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on the military than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.”
Veterans For Peace was founded in 1985 and is an international 501(c)3 organization of military veterans and allies who are dedicated to the cause of world peace. We are the only veterans organization in the world that is recognized by the United Nations. “Peace at Home, Peace Abroad”
