Will Miller Green Mountain Veterans For Peace, Chapter 57, again marched in Memorial Day parades in Middlebury and Vergennes, Vermont’s largest. We plan to carry the banners again in July 4th weekend parades in Montpelier and Cabot, and in September, Labor Day. We also join vets groups on Armistice Day to offer a witness at a vets cemetery. Louise and I have noted a gradual acceptance and increased applause from the watchers, through the years. We are now working on ways to clarify the mission when a bystander approaches and says, “Thank you for your service.” Members have witnessed for peace vs. drone warfare and suffered arrest, initiated letters of protest of the U.S.1033 extension of military equipment to police, witnessed against the Vietnam Memorial’s curfew ion NYC, joined Code Pink in the spring witness in D.C. joined protested vs. pipelines and big oil’s massacres in water and on rail. The work of the VFP chapters is vital to us and we look forward to collaborating when possible with members of our tiny group. Let us know when you may be in our area. — Dave and Louise Ransom
