NYC Chapter 34 hosted a Memorial Day Observance For Peace, to remember our fallen comrades and all victims of war. Speakers and topics focused on the true meaning of Memorial Day for veterans, their families and all victims of war. This year, we made special mention of the epidemic of veteran suicides, including a fellow New Yorker Danny Chen, who committed suicide in Afghanistan after intense racial harassment.
Veterans, friends and family members commemorated our fallen brothers and sisters, and all victims of war. It is a time to remember friends and loved ones who made the ultimate sacrifice, by calling out their names, and honoring them by casting a flower into the river to cries of "Presente!" Taps were played after this solemn ceremony..
