WHEREAS the United States is actively engaged in multiple wars of choice, while preparing other such wars; and
WHEREAS, in particular, the US is engaged in a proxy war against Russia in Ukraine; is actively supporting Israel’s genocidal war in Palestine; and is preparing for war against China and North Korea; and
WHEREAS, the US, Russia, Israel, China and North Korea are all nuclear-armed nations; and
WHEREAS many experts believe the world is closer to nuclear war than at any time since the Cuban Missile Crisis; and
WHEREAS the pursuit of aggressive military policies in an era of nuclear proliferation threatens all life on Earth, while emitting massive amounts of CO2, blocking international climate mitigation, and stealing resources from vital human needs.;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Veterans For Peace calls on the US government to:

Support immediate Ceasefires and Negotiations to end the war in Ukraine and the genocide in Gaza;

End its war preparations and provocations aimed at China

Finally sign a peace treaty ending the Korean War
-
Sign and ratify the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons
-
Provide leadership in international negotiations to eliminate all nuclear weapons
-
Adopt a peaceful foreign policy that respects the sovereignty of all nations, that fosters international cooperation to mitigate and prevent climate catastrophe, and that prioritizes the needs of the poor.
