| Golden Rule’s “Great Loop” Voyage Begins with a Bang
The amazing voyage of the historic Golden Rule anti-nuclear sailboat is entering into an exciting new phase. Last week the Golden Rule was successfully trucked from San Francisco Bay to the St. Croix Marina in Hudson, Wisconsin, about a 30-minute drive from Minneapolis. The Minneapolis/St. Paul chapter of Veterans For Peace had lobbied hard for the Golden Rule to begin its “Great Loop” voyage in the Twin Cities, and it has come to pass.

| Webinar - A Bachelor’s in Bombmaking September 14th - (8pm ET / 7pm CT / 6pm MT / 5pm PT)
We know that war corporations extend their tentacles into many different aspects of our society and culture. Perhaps one of their more insidious influences is in our colleges and universities. There, they recruit and groom students as prospective employees, fund popular programs, award research grants for various aspects of war making, position allies in powerful positions, and often take a large portion of investment portfolios. Part of the War Industry Resisters Network Webinar Series.

| War Merchants Exposure Day
Members of Veterans For Peace of Binghamton and Syracuse, NY joined with Peace Action of NY, Upstate Drone Action and Pax Christi UpState to poke the bloody beehive of the arms industry. They selected two targets for their nonviolent actions, BAE in Endicott, NY, and Lockheed Martin in Owego NY. Their intent was to appeal to workers to demand work that promotes life, not destroys life. They also had a letter (already sent certified mail to both corporations) to hand deliver to BAE Endicott officials. Watch the news coverage: Veterans For Peace holds protests at BAE and Lockheed Martin

| San Diego VFP Fights to Shut Down Miramar Air Show
The San Diego VFP Chapter has joined with 13 other San Diego military, environmental, religious and social groups to ask the Navy to cancel the Miramar Air Show in September for environmental reasons. With unprecedented drought, wildfires and record temperatures, we are all facing the severe effects of climate change. The Miramar Air Show is an unneeded waste of fuel and gross emitter of pollution done for ENTERTAINMENT. We call on the US Navy to cancel the Miramar Air Show as a recognition that the military MUST commit to climate mitigation and become better neighbors with all residents of San Diego.

| Santa Cruz VFP Aids Flood Victims in Eastern KY
VFP and the Veterans of Foreign Wars don’t always see eye-to-eye. But when it comes to helping in time of need, differences disappear. When the flooding devastated Eastern Kentucky in August of this year, VFP Chapter 11 in Santa Cruz voted to send $500 dollars to the area to support the victims of the flooding. One of the VFP Chapter 11 members and his wife, Steve and Jody, were raised in Kentucky, and had planned to visit before the flooding hit. They travelled directly to the Hazard, KY area, the epicenter of the flooding and delivered the check.

| No War No Warming Actions
An effort to organize Nonviolent Civil Disobedience actions around Climate and Militarism and ending current military conflicts is being organized with an opening event in Washington DC around tabling the Rage Against the Machine concerts. Almost 30 members blocked an intersection at the U.S. Capitol for 30 minutes resulting in 7 members being arrested. Join the organizing calls and we can help you create an action locally near you and figure out how we can support it with additional members.

2022 Elections and Voting A second year of online voting!
VFP is excited to have our optional electronic voting again in 2022. A large part of our election costs is the high cost of mailed ballots and low return rate - most ballots we pay to print and mail are never returned. This year we are asking voters to register if they received a mailed ballot last year but did not vote. If you voted last year (either electronically or by mail) and you fail to vote online this year in the online voting time frame, you will automatically be signed up to receive a mailed ballot. (P.S. In order to vote you must be current on your dues so don't forget to renew!)
You do not need to register if you plan on voting electronically as you will receive multiple emails with links and text messages if we have your cell phone in our system. Voting electronically is the preferred method, as it saves time, money, and paper, but paper ballots are not going away. If you plan on needing a mailed ballot this year please register here today! Fill this form out ONLY if you did not vote last year, but need to have a ballot mailed.
