Nuclear weapons pose one of the world’s great moral issues of our time. They are weapons of indiscriminate mass slaughter, and as such, their use would be illegal under virtually any scenario imaginable.
These weapons have the capacity to destroy cities, nations, civilizations and even the human species. For a country to base its military security on these weapons defies reason. For ordinary citizens to be complacent in the face of the threat they pose to their families and all humanity defies comprehension.
We need to return to basic moral values - the same basic moral values that are endorsed by most all the world’s great religions and spiritual leaders.
Our common future may depend upon it.
