Veterans For Peace had a great presence and a great day at the largest climate protest in history.

Dozens of VFPers were highly visible in black or dark blue shirts with a banner saying Stop the Wars, Stop the Warming, 21 VFP flags and a giant inflatable ‘climate bomb’ float through the streets.  Special recognition is due to Mike Tork whose work got the ‘bomb’ up and repaired all day.  Board Member Margaret Stevens spoke eloquently at the rally.

Members came in from as far away as California, New Mexico, Wisconsin and Minnesota, as well as many from the mid-Atlantic region and New England.  We were accompanied by family members, our contingent was led by IVAW members and we connected with partners in Code Pink, VVAW and the Leftist Marching Band.

On Monday, a number of us joined thousands to Flood Wall Street in an action that shut down Broadway in the Wall Street area all day.  Among other VFPers with us that day were Chris Hedges, Episcopal Bishop and Vietnam veteran George Packard and his wife Brook, and Margaret Flowers and Kevin Zeese with their Popular Resistance contingent.  It was a very successful action.
