A Call is Made to End War at Home and War Abroad!

Asheville NC – Veterans [TP1] from around the country as well as from overseas are now converging at the University of North Carolina in Asheville for the 29th Annual Veterans For Peace National Convention held this year in Asheville, NC.

On Friday several prominent speakers, authors and veterans will be addressing the group during the workshops and plenary with discussions on the Full Disclosure of the Vietnam War and the demilitarization of Latin America.

This evening the group hosts Grammy nominated performer John McCutcheon as an opportunity to join with the community in peace and in song. The group plans to introduce their Christmas Eve Truce campaign to commemorate the centennial anniversary of soldiers making peace on the battlefield Christmas Eve 1914. As part of VFP’s campaign Mr. McCutcheon’s song ‘Christmas In the Trenches’ will be performed. “Tonight’s performance by John McCutcheon is a great opportunity for the community to support Veterans For Peace and listen to some of their stories in song” said Tom Palumbo, Army Veteran and local event organizer.

The concert is a benefit for Veterans For Peace and tickets may be purchased at the door for $25.
The gathering continues through Sunday and the public is welcome to attend.

Veterans For Peace is a 29-year-old U.S. based nonprofit educational organization with chapters in over 100 US cities and several international chapters. VFP members include veterans of World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the US occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as non-veteran allies.
