Brothers and Sisters,
As active members of Veterans For Peace we are involved in resistance activities on many fronts. We are all trying to stop war. But the most potentially deadly war, more than any localized conflict fought for resources or any other reason, might be the global Climate War on Mother Earth. We all know that the U.S. Military Machine is the biggest polluter on earth, waging wars for fossil fuels and using a high percentage of what we burn so there is a direct connection. We have a new banner to reflect our commitment to stop this war. (see below) and you can order one or more directly.
There are battles in this war that for the sake of future generations and the planet, we cannot afford to lose. Not to minimize in any way the horror and brutality of the wars in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq or Afghanistan but in the end Climate Change may matter more than any war except a nuclear one. If global warming continues to escalate, the outcome may well determine, even in this century, the end of much of human and other forms of life on this planet. Many scientists feel that Climate Change represents the gravest threat to life on earth in human history. Members of Veterans For Peace, many who have experienced directly the horrors of war, realize that the war on Mother Earth is potentially the most dangerous war of all.

The KXL Pipeline is one such battle - and this is one where we are up against very powerful corporate interests but that there is also an extremely good chance of winning because of broad public support. But we can only win if we participate. Veterans For Peace can have a strong voice and a significant role to play in conjunction with our environmental allies. The corporate controlled State Dept. released a favorable report on the Keystone XL Tar Sands Pipeline and the AFL CIO endorsed the pipeline, giving Obama total cover to approve it. Let's not let this happen.

And here is a list of potential places for protest actions:

Attached is a general (3'x10') banner for this campaign, and along with that you can see one (3'x8') that specifically includes and address the Keystone Tar Sands Pipeline. We will also be developing VFP signage that can be used at a KXL Tar Sands protest action. We have bumper stickers of the first banner that are also available.
Please get involved.
