2011 Veterans for Peace Convention Opening Plenary

Dr. Robert Jensen, University of Texas at Austin, delivered the opening
Plenary at the 2011 Veterans for Peace Convention in Portland OR. The
intriguing title of his presentation was “Nature Bats Last-Revolution
and Redemption, Resistance and Redemption.” Especially noted were three
revolutions: Agricultural, Industrial, and Delusional.

Cornel Pewewardy, Director and Associate Professor, Native American
Studies Portland State University presented a traditional Indian
blessing with his drum. Bernie Meyer, the “American Gandhi,” spoke as
Gandhi would have addressed the convention. Bette Lee presented her “No
More Wars” photos with “Universal Soldier” as a musical background.
Elliott Adams introduced the VFP Board of Directors. Garrett
Reppenhagen, IVAW, greeted the delegates. Emma’s Revolution delighted
the audience with their music.
