NAME OF EVENT: Helmets to Hard Hats

LOCATION OF EVENT: Portland State University

DESCRIPTION OF EVENT: November 11th Veterans Day/Armistice Day
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armistice_Day
Armistice Day is the anniversary of the end of World War I, on November 11, 1918.

Veterans For Peace the Sean Slattery Chapter 72 will celebrate Armistice Day and Host ?Helmets to Hardhats? in solidarity with Labor History Month. Most soldiers come from working class families, kids sent off to the slaughter of war and those who survive return to the world of work and working class struggles. Combat Veterans have a different critique of political hacks and their blood lust for war and empire. They know the cost of killing in their souls, the price families pay for loved ones lost, maimed and deranged. They have little patience for liars and thieves that skew history in favor robber barons, and arms manufactures that steal elections, and bribe officials while destroying our schools, jobs, social services and especially our democracy.

The day will start with a respectful ceremony beginning at 10:00 am at the PSU Park Blocks Stage and end with Church Bell Ringing around 11:00 am.

Helmets to Hardhats Art exhibit will be on display in Smith Memorial Student Union Room SMU 101 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

Plus Three supporting off-campus drama productions
