Phyllis Paskauskas

Phyllis Paskauskas, a member of Chapter 041 since the early 1990's died in December 2005 after a long illness. She was born in Providence, RI, was a graduate of Brown University and Smith School of Social Work and was employed in public and private agencies in the Boston area. She had lived in Mashpee on Cape Cod for the past 22 years. She was also active in a number of local educational, political and conservation organizations on the Cape.

Phyllis served as a lieutenant in the Navy during World War II and worked in Washington D.C. in a special decoding office. When she joined our chapter, she was our first female member and was very active in all of our educational and activist efforts. We missed her sorely when she became too ill to participate any longer but we kept in touch during the past several years. We remember her smiling face and keen observations, both of which helped our chapter's voice for peace and justice
grow stronger.
