DESCRIPTION OF EVENT: Speakers, including several members of Iraq Veterans Against the War and a member of Vietnam Veterans Against the War, followed by laying of flowers at the Memorial Fountain. Following the Ceremony, there will be a Pic-Nic/Fundraiser for IVAW at the National Vietnam Veterans' Art Museum, 1801 S. Indiana Ave. (18th St., 1 block East of Michigan Ave., about 1-1/2 miles South of Memorial), Chicago, IL. Donation $5.00.

3000 tombstone shaped monuments inscribed with the names of Iraq War fallen will be laid out on South Beach during the Memorial Day Weekend, the same location and weekend that the hip-hop festival is taking place. Veterans For Peace Chapter 032 works very closely with Democracy for America Miami Dade to stage the Arlington events.

NAME OF EVENT: Display of crosses, one for each Michigan resident killed in Iraq (Arlington Northern Michigan) LOCATION OF EVENT: Open Space (name of city park) on the shores of West Bay of Lake Michigan
DESCRIPTION OF EVENT: We will display about 132 crosses (at this date) representing each Michigan resident who has died in the Iraq war. Each cross will contain name, picture, hometown, date of death and circumstances of death. Patterned, of course, after the first Arlington display.

This will be the fourth year VFP 72 has stepped away from the traditional militaristic ceremonies and rhetoric to honor our fallen brothers and sisters in arms, for as General Ulysses S. Grant, eighteenth President of the United States said, <i>"The one thing I never want to see again is a military parade".</i>
