VFP Peace Delegation Returns From South Korea
[Letter to the House Armed Services Committee from the Korea Peace Campaign - November 29, 2006]
Five members of Veterans For Peace traveled last week to Pyongtaek, South Korea to stand with Korean farmers resisting the expansion of a US military base. VFP Members who traveled to Korea: Korean War Vets Charles Atkins, Wilson Powell, and Thomas Kennedy, along with Vietnam War era Veterans Larry Kerschner and John Kim.
John Kim, the National Coordinator for the VFP- Korea Peace Campaign project, who led the delegation to Seoul, explained the significance of their trip: “We wanted to convey a strong message to the Korean people that there are concerned American veterans who not only oppose the unnecessary, wasteful expansion of the U.S. military base in Pyeongtaek but also call for the withdrawal of all U.S. troops from South Korea.”
